Mikel Arteta quipped he is "loving" the final weeks of the winter transfer window as speculation mounts that Arsenal will try to sign a striker.

Arsenal manager Arteta admitted his side are "going to try" and make some January signings, before reiterating the club are "very short" in attack following injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. As various transfer links continue to swirl, the Spaniard has admitted a "lot of people" text him about recruits but he claims he is none the wiser.

When asked if he was enjoying the final weeks of the transfer window, he told reporters: "I love it. No, I understand it [the transfer speculation] happens in the summer. I get a lot of people texting me, 'Are you after him?' and sometimes I don't even know what they are talking about. I don't follow it too much, I have enough work to do with other things so I don't get too distracted with it."
