The gesture was a mark of gratitude towards their fans who made it to West London for an 8 PM kick-off on a Saturday night. It has to be noted that there were no trains back to Manchester at the end of the game. The idea of thanking their fans was reportedly floated by club captain Bruno Fernandes.
