Stoke defender Robert Huth is set to serve a three-match ban after seeing his red card against Sunderland upheld by the FA.
The German defender was dismissed against The Black Cats in his side’s 1-0 defeat for a challenge on David Meyler.
Television replays show that Huth tried to pull out of the tackle at the last moment, but the treacherous weather conditions meant that the centre back still connected with the Bantams forward.
Tony Pulis was incensed by referee Martin Hutchinson’s decision, and lodged an appeal against Huth’s red card.
However, the FA have revealed that the official’s reading of the event has been backed.
“An Independent Regulatory Commission has today [Tuesday 7 February] dismissed a claim of wrongful dismissal from Stoke City’s Robert Huth,” an official statement on the FA website reads.
“The defender will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect following his red card for serious foul play in the game against Sunderland on 4 February 2012.”
Huth will now be unavailable for Premier League games against Fulham and Swansea, and The Potters’ FA Cup fifth round tie against Crawley.
