One man who has consistently been linked with a backroom role at Old Trafford is Edwin van der Sar, and the Netherlands legend spoke to ESPN this week to outline what he thinks the issues are at his old club.
“There has always been strong characters, but in the last couple of years these strong characters have disappeared, and they’re not making the difference anymore.” Van der Sar said.
It’s interesting to hear the former goalkeeper speak so candidly about what he thinks one of the key issues is at United, and it potentially gives us an insight into what the 48-year-old would look to bring if he were offered a position at Manchester United in the near future.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Dutchman ends up getting a job with the Red Devils, having been linked with the DOF role, but United fans now have a clearer picture of what he’d want to do in the future.
