Rangers confirmed the signing of Croatian defender Nikola Katic on Tuesday after brief negotiations that first surfaced in reports at the weekend.
The 21-year-old joins on a four-year deal and becomes the Ibrox side’s fifth signing of the summer after Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy and Ovie Ejaria.
The defence is an area of the team that badly needs improvement if Steven Gerrard’s side are going to compete for silverware in Scottish football next season, having conceded more goals than any other side in the Scottish Premiership top six last term.
A Croatian U21 international, Katic has made 69 senior appearances in club football and was a regular for Slaven Belupo in the top-flight of his homeland last season.
Supporters are excited that the club are going beyond their usual tried and tested markets to bring in promising youngster and are cautiously optimistic that he can be a success at Ibrox.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
