Charlton Athletic have signed free agent midfielder Joe Ledley, as has been reported by the club’s official channels.
What’s the story?
The Addicks have been struggling with injuries in recent times, having 14 first-team players unavailable for their most recent game, against Sheffield Wednesday.
They have taken a step towards easing that burden, especially with midfielders such as Josh Cullen among those who are currently out.
Ledley has been without a club since leaving Derby County in January 2019, but has now joined up with the club and could be used against Middlesbrough.
Speaking about the acquisition, Lee Bowyer said:
“He has experience, he has been in the game a long time, he’s an international player. He’ll come in again and help the young lads that are in around it. I’m over the moon to have him on board.”
Overcoming the crisis
This is a positive sign for Charlton, regarding being able to play a team full of senior players, as well as being able to fill their bench, something they were unable to do against Wednesday.

In addition to making the signing, there are also players returning, with Lyle Taylor having declared that he is ready to go and will be travelling to Middlesbrough.
There is also a chance that Chuks Aneke could be available to participate in the game at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
This, of course, does not completely fix the crisis, but having Ledley, as well as the returning players, should definitely make things feel better for Bowyer and everyone at Charlton.
In other news, FFC has identified two Middlesbrough players Bowyer should be looking out for on Saturday.
