John Stones has given Manchester City a fresh injury scare after he was forced off early in England's international friendly with Belgium.

The City defender stretched to try and win the ball just eight minutes into the friendly with Belgium at Wembley and landed awkwardly. He was briefly treated on the pitch before it was decided he had to withdraw from the match and was seen trudging off down the tunnel.

City have a series of testing fixtures soon after the international break. The champions face Premier League leaders Arsenal in a top-of-the-table showdown on Sunday before facing Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. They then head to Spain to meet Real Madrid in a Champions League quarter-final first leg on April 9.

Stones' injury comes just three days after his club team-mate Kyle Walker hurt a muscle in England's 1-0 defeat by Brazil and was sent home from the Three Lions' training camp and back to City. However, Walker's injury is not feared to be a serious one.

Stones will return to City on Wednesday along with the rest of his team-mates and is set to undergo tests to determine the extent of the injury. The defender has been haunted by a series of fitness issues this season, limiting him to only 11 Premier League starts.
