Curtis Jones insists he "never dives" after winning Liverpool a penalty against Chelsea in their 2-1 win at Anfield.

The Liverpool academy product won his side a penalty, which was converted by Mohamed Salah, and then scored in a home victory against Chelsea on Sunday. The 23-year-old said referee John Brooks was right to point to the spot after a challenge by Levi Colwill, while expressing his relief at getting on the scoresheet.

He told : "I never dive. I felt the contact, went down and it was a penalty."
Jones added on his goal: "There's been times when I have arrived in the box and it is a first-time finish. As soon as Mo [Salah] had the ball I made the run, but it bounced so I had to have a touch, and then thankfully it went in."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The result kept Liverpool top of the Premier League and much of that was down to Jones' display. He has struggled to tie down a regular spot in the Reds' first-team but performances like this will certainly help his cause in trying to achieve that goal.
